Forty Four
Don’t faint or pass out, there is nothing wrong with your vision. This blog entry is not a figment of your imagination. Eastlyn, I don’t want to hear, or read one single comment from you! This past Sunday I celebrated my 44th birthday. Yes I said 44. The day started out with my getting up at six in the morning so that I could see the clock turn from 6:12 to 6:13 (was born at 6:13 AM). This is a tradition that my mother started many years ago. This and several other traditions she started remain a very important part of my life today. The day’s festivities began in earnest at 10 am service at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church where I attend regularly. At the end of each service on Saturday and Sunday those who have birthdays and wedding anniversaries are recognized. We are asked to stand up so that the congregation can sing happy birthday. The same holds true for those with wedding anniversaries. Instead of how old are you, those in attendance sung May the good Lord Bless You. This year was especially special because on Saturday July 3, Grand mom will be celebrating yet another birthday. There we were standing side by side being serenaded on that beautiful morning. Words cannot express how happy and sad I felt at that moment. Grandson and Grand mom celebrating birthdays in the same week, how cool is that. I would be remised if I did not say that she was one of the major reasons why I moved to Texas in the first place. Happy birthday Grand Mom, MAY THE GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOUEACH AND EVERYDAY. The afternoon was spent doing things by myself and with my mother. Then there was Sunday night. It was SUPPOSED to be just Eastlyn, her husband Mike their children Aaron and Alisa and myself attending a jazz concert in the park. WRONG. Instead my dear sweet trouble making cousin (EASTLYN) put together and pulled off a surprise celebration involving all of the Texas relatives plus good friends at said concert. We feasted on Chips/salsa, crackers/dip, fresh fruit, Cupcakes, and SANGRIA. Thank you E. for making the day even more special than it already was.

  2. Hey, Barrett-
Happy 4th of July since I didn't see you for more than the few seconds when you picked up A & A for mass. (Thanks for taking them, by the way) I was joking with you about going to Lani & Lo Jr's. I knew you were going over there b/c you said so yesterday. RoseMary called late Saturday and invited us over for dinner. No hard feelings. Hope you had a good day and enjoyed the fireworks. -E
